# Day 3/34 The relationship between Trace, Log and Metrix

To facilitate the collection and processing of this data, OTel relies on the OTel Collector, an open-source tool that aggregates data from all three components. This amalgamated data is then channeled into the APM framework for in-depth analysis and interpretation.

In OTel, the Trace component and Log component work together effortlessly using unique identifiers such as trace ID and span ID. These identifiers facilitate correlation, empowering users to associate trace data with related log entries for in-depth analysis and issue resolution.

On the other hand, the Metric component in OTel utilizes different attributes like server name, timestamp, service name, and port number (specifically for microservices) to record and assess the performance and throughput of the system and its distinct components.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://stephen-tsoi.gitbook.io/stephen-tsoi-docs/opentelemetry/from-missing-events-to-complete-visibility-tracing-enterprise-transactions-with-opentelemetry/day-3-34-the-relationship-between-trace-log-and-metrix.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
